This past weekend was truly amazing, I had seen catwalks after catwalks, spoken to many lovely people, enjoyed the atmosphere of high class, style and great amounts of sophistication.

Friday had brought three great fashion shows from three great designers, Trelise Cooper, Katheryn Wilson and Juliette Hogan which had me ‘oooh-ing’ and ‘aah-ing’. So I expected Saturday to be the same, unfortunately I had missed out on some great shows during the day, but had made it in time for the big Saturday finale, the Zambesi, Kate Sylvester and WORLD show.

It was interesting to attend a pre-party as I never even heard of the idea before, but it existed, and it was for VIP and ticket holders. And what great luck, I had a ticket. I enjoyed Valet parking (bless the poor soul that had to drive my banged up car), free drinks, fine food, goodie bags and front row seats to the show!

Zambesi brought around smokey-yellow checkers and soft floral prints combining it with their known dark minimal tailoring. Kate Sylvester had a bit of fun with fur, fox ears with splashes of colours and patterns from the Orient. While WORLD once again demonstrated their bold skill and creativity by delivering more vibrant colours and strong patterns in one collection.

The show was just amazing, the soundtracks were awesome, and I couldn’t stop dancing in my seat. My favourite pieces will have to be two of Kate Sylvester’s red dresses, the bright red knee length dress that pleats and folds at the waist and the long sleeveless dress with oriental/floral stitching.

NZFW2012: Zambesi – AW13…

SONY DSC

Teasing the audience at the start of the show by having models parade behind the opening of the runway, it was quite a dramatic start. Lights dimmed, a model finally comes out only to stop at the opening, arms on hips as she waits for the beat to drop! Then they finally come down the runway!

There were so many elements in this collection so I’m just fill you in on what I wrote down and liked….plus it’s 1.33am and I need some sleep!

With studded collars, super short transparent capes and yellow/black check fabric, Zambesi had a bit of everything. First off was the women’s collection, it was quite a mixture of textures and fabrics. Plastic, leather, velvet, sequins and mesh!

The yellow/black check was used in a dress, top and shirt. Contrasting fabrics and paneling were also featured in the women’s range. I actually loved the sequined lined shorts and muted gold pants.

With the men’s collection, the piece that stood out for me was the contrasting jacket in the beige with the contrasting leather on the front of the jacket.

The yellow/black checked shorts were quite short and looked like boxers, not sure if I’m brave enough to wear that. I love the use of the checks in the shirts and the contrasting sizing of checks on the shirt.

We’ve got more pics over on our Facebook page thanks to Sin-mae and Tom! (:

Zambesi

Zambesi was a pretty exciting show I thought. Everything from the music to the clothes and how the models walked on the runway.

The room was absolutely packed so we were pretty lucky to have scored third row seats (great view).

So what did Zambesi offer in this collection…..HIGH-VIS FLURO COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was all I noticed on every single piece, whether it was a strip of fluro on a jacket, inside the pockets or on hoodies!

I loved the detailing on what looked like a black cob-web mesh. With sequins, sweaters and a few studs it pretty much had everything in it!

Great touch with the reflective sunglasses!!! I actually have been meaning to get myself a pair! And the leather folder-looking man-bag. Check out some of the pictures and be sure to visit our Facebook page for more of Zambesi!
