NZICF 18 | 5 mins with Lauren Pattison

One of UK’s fastest rising stars, Lauren Pattison, is bringing her acclaimed Edinburgh Fringe show, Lady Muck, to New Zealand. Lady Muck explores how to embrace your flaws and learn to love the skin you’re in. A fresh and fierce female voice; it’s an hour of empower! We caught up with Lauren ahead of her international tour.

Describe your show in three words or less…
Brutally honest + fiesty

What’s the inspiration behind it?
It was inspired by a break up but most importantly it was spurred on by the realisation that I rely on others to feel good about myself when I need that ability myself.

Where will we find you during the festival?
At the bar. But more specifically, if you want to find my comedy I’ll be at The Classic with my solo. I’ll also be appearing on The Big Show and Comedy All Stars so keep an eye out!

NZ Comedy Scene – would you swipe right or swipe left?
Swipe right! It’s all new to me so I feel like I’ve got lots of exploring to do

Do you have any top picks for this year’s festival?
Phil Wang, Dane Baptiste, Larry Dean & Fern Brady are some of the UK’s finest acts and I’d highly recommend catching any of their shows.

What song or movie best describes the story of your life?
A Series Of Unfortunate Events

What are you currently binge-watching on Netflix?
Nailed It. It’s essentially a show of people who can’t bake trying to bake elaborate things and spectacularly failing. Joyous.

And your top 3 songs on Spotify?
The Greatest Showman soundtrack is all I am currently listening to.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
All the jobs that I put off doing to nap instead.
