Jimmy D – It’s a Kind of Magick

One thing is always for sure with Jimmy D’s collection and that is the colour black! Everyone seemed pretty excited with what the collection would entail and it did leave a few of us surprised!

Using a bold blood red against the black, I thought was stunning and a nice surprise. The collection seemed to have been inspired by the dark arts with the use of five-point stars on the garments. Also perhaps bondage served as an inspiration as well with the use of harnesses.

I have always been fascinated by Jimmy D and was quite intrigued by the collection. I love the detailing on the garments and especially the print which was designed by the artist Andrew McLeod. Check out a few of the pictures from the show below and be sure to also have a look on our Facebook page for more of Jimmy D.

NZFW Wedding Style

Here comes the bride (and groom). OK so we might have all got a bit lost during this show but check out the pics on our Facebook.

Celine Rita – Addicted to Love

When Florence + the Machine’s remake of Robert Palmer’s Addicted to Love started playing, we knew we were in for a treat.
Celine Rita’s collection featured beautiful maxi shirt dresses, crop tops, blazers and jumpers. With a beautiful floral red rose print, the pieces were quite a standout.

Ruby Capital City / Liam

After the short drive out to a warehouse in Grey Lynn, we were greeted by fellow fashionistas sipping on champagne! This being my first show for New Zealand Fashion Week, I was already head over heels. Having eaten nothing yet (it was a 10.00am show) I went straight for the bar to get me a glass of bubbly. Before I even managed to get myself a drink I was pulled over a couple of times to pose for some pictures. I was flattered to say the least!

After taking our seats, a live band started to play with Chelsea Jade doing the vocals, which marked the start of the show. Making its debut at New Zealand Fashion Week was Liam.

A smart, simple and professional collection with beautiful use of colors, fabrics and tailored suits with a feminine touch.

The velvety blue floor length dress with bows on the shoulders was a standout piece in the collection. I love the mix of bold color choices (blue, orange, tan).

Following the Liam collection was Ruby, an impressive collection that was very well put together. Beautiful bright and metallic colors, set against tribal prints. Wonderful use of color blocking similar to the show opener Liam.

This really was a fun and flirty collection. Definitely a favorite so far at New Zealand Fashion Week.
Below are some of the pictures we took at both of the shows. Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more of Ruby/Liam

Starfish

The first ever Fashion Week show to feature on the site was Starfish so it’s good to be back. Laurie Foon delivered again – and you know she gets our approval for the sustainability effort too. Enjoy a collection that’s wildly different yet strangely integrated. As always, there’s more on Facebook.
