>Growth – Deryn Schmidt’s debut.

>

The amazing Samantha Hannah, Wellington’s leading stylist, put us onto the exciting new label that is Deryn Schmidt.  Deryn has done the hard graft, working in the industry for many years before launching her own label. From what we’ve seen, it’s been time well spent – this collection rocks.
Gear is 100% New Zealand made – which you know we like – and makes great use of natural fibres. It’s a fun collection which we know you’re going to enjoy – entitled ‘Growth’, Deryn tells us it ‘is all about responding positively to change, about meeting the challenges that we each face throughout our lives head on, overcoming obstacles and adversity, and making the most out of every situation.”

If that’s not enough of a taste, get to www.derynschmidt.co.nz to check out everything Deryn Schmidt related. Stockists are across the country.

>Shallow Water – must be summer

>

Fabric addict Shiana Weir of Mardle just dropped her latest pieces on us. Shallow Water is Mardle’s summer collection and begins with the Triglinae dress and the men’s Chatham tee – in Tencel/Silk blend – which Shiana describes as ‘yum’.

Mardle gear is made in New Zealand (bonus points) and, it has to be said, is a little bit different. You can check out the growing collection online and order via the web too.

>Nick Von K – it’s jewellery but not as we know it Jim.

>

Fark! It’s not often we get lost for words in these parts – although some members of the team should definitely consider it from time to time – but Nick Von K has definitely done it. His work is amazing, we know he hears it all the time but it has to be said… we haven’t seen anything like this before!

Nick Von K launched his new label in September, taking inspiration from all that has shaped him – from Metallica to his roots in Austrian castles. Nick works in an amazing range of materials - from mammoth tusk to pounamu creating designs that will rock your world.

The label’s debut collection, Nick tells us, is split into three stories – of life, of death and of the imagination. Get to the website and experience Jungle of Eden, See You There and Rainy Daydreams.

>Nicole Fendel Jewellery, a global traveller this summer

>Hey kids, occasionally, just occasionally we get excited about things from outside of New Zealand. It’s always good to see our Aussie cousins coming over with something a little different. Nicole Fendel is the latest to catch our eye.

Aussie designer Nicole Fendel launched her label in 2002 and while we just caught up with her, we hear that her collections have struck a chord both in Aus and further afield. The latest collection takes us all over the globe – telling the story of a sun-drenched summer spent exploring St Tropez, Morocco, Capri and Africa, with exquisite gold and silver pendants, dramatic cocktail rings, delicate bracelets and clusters of bangles making up a hybridized collection of future heirlooms.

This summer also sees the launch of NFJ’s Spring Racing Carnival Collection The Clover, The Valentines Heart Collection and the Tree of Life pendant, which supports Life & Tree, Fendel’s favourite charity in Sao Paulo, Brazil that aims to rejuvenate plant life in the over developed region.

Check out the current collections on their website, we’ll bring you details of their Kiwi stockists soon. XO

>Summer, summer, summer… Turet Knuefermann

>Yeah, ok. So we’re summer people. Down here in Wellington there’s something glorious about throwing off the black of winter – we’re as guilty as anyone – and starting to delight in the freedom and colour that comes with the Kiwi summer. Beaches, roadtrips, barbies (not Ken), its all part of that magical mix that makes this land home.

We know that all the upcoming festivals, days – make that weeks – at the beach and those summer parties demand outfits that can look good, travel well and always have you looking hot. The summer collection from Turet Kneufermann has a piece we think is just perfect – yep, a beautiful sarong – so many looks, and perfect for everything from the beach to that rather grown up party.

This isn’t the only piece worth getting your hands on from Turet Kneufermann. Her spring summer collection is gorgeous. Inspired by the crisp, clean lines of Scandinavia and the river guardian of Portugal, this collection reminds us so much of the freedom we’re expecting this summer.

>Kate Middleton’s changing style

>

Not sure if anyone cares but we are English so thought we should at least acknowledge the Royal Engagement. We found a wee video on the changing style of the future Queen of England. Enjoy.
